Good news! Finally heard back from the dealer about my broken audio interface today. They are sending me a new one via overnight shipping.
I've had two other #Focusrite interfaces for years without problems so I'm a little surprised this one was so problematic.
Originally, I was planning on selling my current one (Scarlett 18i20 2nd gen) but since there is a #Linux driver available, I am really curious to see how well it performs. Linux recognizes my first gen Scarlett 2i4 natively with #ALSA. #FreeBSD recognizes it but I am not able to get meaningful sound out of it, just some weird clicks and pops. Not sure what the issue is because it's class compliant.
Friendly heads up: If you do come across a first gen 2i4, highly recommended you scoop it up. Being USB-powered, small, and having excellent components, it's an inexpensive way to dramatically increase audio quality on your Linux box.
