So people who use Anthropic products - 'claude code' etc - now have a very specific third party risk analysis to perform here:
In the event that Anthropic accedes to the administration's demands, it becomes a de-facto part of the US military, and all your interactions with claude, etc., are now subject to the US military's interference.
In the event that Anthropic denies this request, companies using claude code now have to ensure that any federally-directed products they have are segregated from any code produced by Anthropic resources, due to the supply chain risk designation.
Anthropic - if they have any sense - will obviously fight this, but it'll likely take several months for it to hash out either way, which is likely to impact production schedules, especially at the "accelerated" rate that is supposedly part of this paradigm.
