@michaelharley I know of some who use an /ai Slash-Page to explain their use (or non use) of AI in greater detail.
On my own site, I show my own non-use of AI on my FAQ page "Does your work include AI generated art? — Definitely not!". This does however show my focus on GenAI as that's my greatest nemesis in this whole thing.
It is a difficult arena to navigate, and one that is constantly moving it feels! More than happy to discuss how this can be done better in terms of badge use though.
Here's the link to https://slashpages.net ... the AI entry is quite near the top. Name coined by @caleb and @shellsharks , page made by @robb
@andycarolan I think this is a really great idea. thanks for sharing it.
Hell, let's get more pedantic.
If you use any spell check, grammar check, or speech to text in your workflow, then you're using AI as we understand it now. There's very little fundamental difference between those ancient tools and an LLM
Further, where's the line for computer generated code? I don't know HTML. I automatically generate HTML with Hugo to make my static blog. An LLM didn't do it, but I didn't either.
I think my most damning problem is that I did use an LLM to troubleshoot getting my site up and running! Does that count?
@michaelharley Programming and web development are challenging and require a lot of time and effort to learn, but so does good writing.
I think there is a learned helplessness and self-limiting beliefs about technical aptitude (eg. people who self-identify as "not being a math person").
And I think this is by design. If a large majority of people believed they had the technical capacity to be autonomous from corporate tech it would cost entire industries.
Setting up a SSG blog can be as simple as forking an already-existing theme, pressing a few buttons on Netlify, and writing out Markdown plain text posts.
Even more importantly, I'd much rather see "poorly" designed websites by humans than nicely designed ones where the creator has no idea what's going on under the hood because they're forfeited that to generative AI.
Sorry I didn't realize I had so much to say on this lol.
