Hmm, I wonder how often you get the purple in 500mb height anomaly. Not a climate person, only a dabbler in weather. That seems bad. 🤷

Question maybe for @AlaskaWx on if that's a normal pattern seen in the Aleutians and what that means?
@ai6yr A quick way to assess that question is to look at the standardize anomalies that Levi kindly provides. The Aleutians have extremely high variability in 500mb heights, so it's not so unusual. Note the same absolute departures over northeast Russia are more anomalous in the standardized sense because the variability is lower than over the north Pacific/southern Bering Sea.
