I recently pre-ordered the #Jolla Phone, a wonderful #European smartphone that will cost around 600€. Am I wrong?

I'm pretty sure that most of you are thinking: oh, yes, so wrong! For this price, you get a Samsung or iPhone, or even a Chinese rocket for half the cost! 🚀

However, I believe that perspective is indeed mistaken: a) a Samsung or iPhone with similar specifications costs more, not the same as a #jollaphone. b) I don't want the latest super-smartphone with ultra-high performance but zero respect for my privacy and self-welfare. c) If you're paying that much for a phone, you're not really worried about the price; you're motivated by other things: status, trends, marketing...

I just want a phone that doesn't help the data extraction industry and make #bigtechs even bigger and stronger, especially the ones that want to bring Europe (the whole world) to its knees 🇪🇺. And #SailfishOS devices appear to be a way to have that.

So, maybe I'm wrong, but I really don't think so.

@felipecutillas Does it work - or would you need a backup, standard phone for specific, but necessary apps?

@thomasjorgensen @felipecutillas I got old Sony phone second hand to try this, and I don't need second phone for any apps. But it is a little bit hit or miss especially with govement/bank apps. You can check from here if someone is reported your bank: https://forum.sailfishos.org/t/topic/18438/1

Note that latter place has just been opened, so not huge pool of reported apps just yet
