"Disable your ad blocker to continue"

Gee, I guess people really, really dislike ad block disable requests.

Lesson: rant long enough, and you will hit a common point everyone hates.*

* - that's not the lesson.

Ok, because a repeat thing, it seems.

I am *NOT* interested in anyone's look-I-discovered-this-thing-everyone-else-knew-about to circumvent the adblocker request.

The very intent of whoever designed it already tells me I shouldn't bother with it.

Respect yourself more, people, PLEASE.

@faraiwe So right! <Emphatic expletive deleted> no!
@kaosc expletives r us!
@faraiwe ::adds domain to blocklist::
@faraiwe every time! If my ad blocker lets me auto-block the website so that I do not go there again, I would do so. but afaik, none of the ad blockers lets you do that.
@ahalam
Add them to an IP blacklist, same thing I do with Unity because of all their analytics on games.
@faraiwe

@Hakuso

Where do you keep this IP blocklist?

@ahalam
I use iptables, but I'm on Linux, think it's the hosts file in Windows you can.edit to block requests to a site.
@faraiwe
/me views page source.

@faraiwe Loser! On to my Pi-hole. I reserve the right to refuse business with anyone who tries such.

"You may have the right to desire so, but you don't have the right that I comply.

Same goes for, by using this site you allow us and our hundreds of associate to pollute your computer with tracking cookies.
Many of which never expire

@Kerplunk delete the cookies, leave the site.

See how I fixed all your whining?

Shoo.

@faraiwe Might be worth trying reader mode. Works well for cookie popups (but not always) dunno how good it is for ad blocker popups.
@faraiwe
➕1️⃣ on Reader view … or "Inspect Element" then delete the modal overlay 🤷🏻

@roens OR...crazy idea, I know... don't bother with that website.

The very design already shows it's NOT something you want to patronize, or give your custom to.

Vote with your wallet, and your attention/presence.

@faraiwe
Sure, yeah. Unless I actually do want to *see* what's on the page… that's when I'll use the approaches I offered earlier. If it's some site where I might exchange funds for goods/services, then buh-bye!
@faraiwe @flamulous I hate it when I see this. But I guess that means the website in question really doesn’t want me to see whatever they are offering that badly.
@faraiwe is it possible to design something that just sandboxes the ads so they’re open but can’t be seen or do anything?

@plastikanimal I just use UBlock and a couple other add-ons.

Don't over complicate things. Remember: K.I.S.S.
