begging web devs to make a light mode that isnt just black text on WHITE WHITE PURE WHITE #FFFFFF

even a light grey would be less painful

@hi_cial There really need to be, like. Three settings. I read BEST on Light Mode, it's the easiest for me to process and apparently this is common with some forms of astigmatism???

One "off-light" mode for less glare, one Light Mode for people like me, one Dark Mode for the rest of the internet.

It wouldn't even be HARD these are not DEEPLY complex colour choices.

@railerat i do have astigmatism but pretty mildly??

i guess when im exhausted (or stressed) it gets really bad

@hi_cial Even with glasses I get smear, etc.... but dark modes (including Meemu!) create blurriness and "shadows" of the text, lots of halos/"auras" of light around the text, etc. Like the text is RADIATING, visibly.

I don't spend lots of unbroken time on sites that are dark like Meemu. I often do a couple replies and then go to other (brighter) parts of the internet so I don't give myself a headache or something, and then check back in.

@hi_cial Incidentally it's also dangerous for me to drive at night in cities and so on with lots of lights.

Back country roads are fine.

Atlanta? Actively courting death.

@railerat at least fediverse instances let you change out of dark mode, but then youre blasted in the face with light mode. GOOD LUCK IF YOURE PHOTOSENSITIVE FUCKER

but yeah thats the /exact/ same blurry/aura situation im getting. tho it gets worse when im tired, i think.
