“How did you build those muscles and get strong?”

Mostly by indulging my ego at every turn and letting myself me motivated not by health but by a desire to impress myself with feats of strength and looking cool

…and lots of whey protein isolate

The typical motivations used to encourage “health” in this society involve way too much guilt and shame and fear, none of which are sustainable approaches
@recursive one must have a positive image of the future to make progress
@recursive how much whey protein isolate are we talking? Like 80% of your diet? I'm trying to increase my protein intake. And eat even fewer carbs.

@artcollisions realistically I’m typically consuming a protein shake with about 60 grams of unsweetened whey protein isolate on top of other food. If not trying to increase calories, can be made with cocoa and vanilla extract and noncaloric sweetener and water (emulsify the cocoa first in a small quantity of water, then mix in the protein, then fill to about 20-24 fluid oz)

If trying to get more calories I finish that final fill to 20 oz with whole milk (lactose free)

@recursive *cries* Why are bodies so much work?
@artcollisions this was shared elsewhere today and it was a thoughtful rambling on the subject https://youtu.be/SPeZOtZijFg

@recursive O M G I feel so seen.

I was talking to someone in December about how I do not even like my body and he was like, I want you to love your body. It makes me want to cry. That feels literally impossible to me.

He seemed to think I was unusual and I asked him if he knew any woman who loved her body. (Dude is easily 70. I like him a lot, but also, he's a 70 yr old white dude).
