Hello, Fediverse 👋

I'm Sophie. I run a digital ops consultancy from the south of France, working with values-led businesses.

I'm in the process of leaving Instagram, Facebook and LinkedIn. I got tired of building on platforms that sell our data, gut safety systems to please politicians, and treat people as products.

Still figuring it all out. Would love to connect.

@sophiekaz It's interesting... most of my posts on here is like screaming into the void but I do keep posting.
@philpetree Ha, I know that feeling from Instagram! I think it depends a lot on hashtags and timing here. I'm brand new so maybe I'm still in the honeymoon phase, but the engagement so far has been way more than I expected. Keep going!
@sophiekaz I think content type matters too. Family/feelings stuff doesn't seem to play here or on Bluesky, but plays well on threads. Techie stuff doesn't play on threads, but seems to be okay here. @asmartbear and I had that convo, his business posts get more engagement on Bluesky than on threads.
@philpetree @asmartbear interesting, thank you! I've been considering Bluesky, but wasn't sure what the community here thinks of it's ethical credentials... Do you think it's wise for me to sign up? I used to post quite a bit of stuff related to my business...
@sophiekaz @asmartbear
I don't have a good answer. I have a friend who's a publicist for famous authors, and she advised me to get back on social media and build a following, so a few years ago, I got back on, but I find it all so tedious. LOL Most places I have 500ish followers, and it doesn't change much.
@philpetree @asmartbear 500 followers while finding the whole thing tedious is honestly impressive! I think that's part of why this place appeals to me. The pressure to perform and game algorithms just doesn't exist here.
@sophiekaz Here I only have 61 followers and 5 of those are scammers. LOL
I post just as much here as I do elsewhere, I engage more here than elsewhere... so IDK what the difference is.
