Issues I'm having with Gnome 50 that I think should be fixed before the beta is over and stable is released:

- System Monitor crashes a lot: https://gitlab.gnome.org/GNOME/gnome-build-meta/-/issues/1227
- If I ever suspend the PC all options to log out disappears: https://gitlab.gnome.org/GNOME/gnome-build-meta/-/issues/1212
- When logging in after booting my laptop, with the lid closed and an external monitor connected, the whole system is unusable and I have to hold the physical power button to restart. https://gitlab.gnome.org/GNOME/gnome-build-meta/-/issues/1246

Is there a GitLab issue somewhere for #Gnome search, after I think 15 years of opening the file you searched for directly, now just opening the folder and marking the file instead in the latest Gnome 50 beta? I am curious about if this is a bug (on my system or on all systems) or a feature, and if it is a feature what the discussion and arguments for and against the change have been. Thanks!

@forteller have you opened an issue about this? I don't see anything explicitly doing that with a quick glance so it's probably a bug.

My guess would be that this a side effect of moving to the portals API which could(?) end up opening file:// URIs in Nautilus (while Gtk.FileLauncher might be more appropriate here)

@GeopJr I have not, since I wanted to hear if anyone else has already done it. Also I'm not sure if this is only happening for me or everyone, since I haven't seen anyone else talk about it, and it seems like a quite substantial change to me. And I'm not sure if it's a Gnome OS thing, a Nautilus thing or a Gnome Shell thing. Someone mentioned it might be a feature, but you gave me hope that it might be a bug :) Should I create an issue at Nautilus, you think?

Sure! The way search provider activations are handled is definitely up to Nautilus, and since I couldn't see anything explicitly changing the behavior to the one you are not fond of, it's safe to assume it's probably an after effect of something else
