Right now my kitchen is on the precipice of chaos. It's at that point where I have plenty of clean spoons but very few clean forks. Plenty of large plates but very few clean bowls. In other words the kitchen is in a state of imbalance where I'm running out of certain utensils while the dishwasher is still about half full (or empty). As a resident of a drought prone region, I can't bring myself to run the dishwasher until it is full. This happens a lot when I'm doing intermittent fasting.

First world problems.

@Humerus_Patella We've lived not far from Pismo Beach for 30 years now. Our water district has been in crisis mode since we moved here. Two or three ppl, mostly two. There were years where we carried buckets of grey water out of the shower. Low-flow fixtures, appliances, &c. Our usage still only varies by a unit or two AT MOST. Once I noticed this, I stopped worrying about the minutia of our water usage.
@4d3fect agreed as I just looked up to find out that a modern dishwasher uses about 3 gallons or less. I run that about every once a week or less as I live alone .
