@KevBot Hey, when I was a kid, I loved the old Popeye cartoons made by the Fleischer Brothers. So much, that I asked my parents to get me some spinach. They did. It tasted yuck. But as an adult I learned to really like it, mainly in its creamed form.

@KevBot as a kid I experienced spinach as seen in the attached photo, a square block of frozen bitter, stinky, slimy slop. It was prepared by putting it in a pan of water & boiling the shit out of it.

It wasn't until I was a teen and my mom used it raw in a salad that I could eat it.

@KevBot you're not far off. It wasn't in the original Popeye strips, but yes, an advertiser was responsible for spinach being added to the animated cartoons.
