I used to deal with VOS on some wines I reviewed back in the day. And now, Victor passes into history. :)

While corporate America stayed silent, a small wine importer risked his business to challenge Trump’s tariffs

When President Donald Trump announced plans to raise the nation’s effective tariff rate to levels not seen since 1930 on April 2, 2025, most CEOs were silent. They’d seen how voicing opposition to any of the president’s ambitions – let alone his signature economic policy – could quickly prove even more costly than the policies he enacted.

@MarkSquiresWine Good for him. Too many people and corporations have caved to Trump.

Not to minimize the danger, but fundamentally Trump is weak. Any examination of history shows that he’s an imbecile who wrecks everything he touches, not to mention a continuous thread of racism going back to the 1980s. While some Americans may support his toxic agenda, I believe the majority of Americans do not.

@michaelormsby in many respects he is weak. But here's why that might not matter: If we had the British parliamentary system this government would fall and this would be over. But we don't have that system. Our electoral system allows him to cover up a lot of weaknesses. No president has ever been removed from office by impeachment.

He has 3 years left in office, if he survives. And JD Vance won't be any more human If he does not. It isn't going to be pretty.
