Rely On AI And Get Left Behind

LLM-based code generation comes with multiple potential gotchas for a business. More code hitting process bottlenecks like testing, review and integration makes most teams slower. More problems bei…

@baldur this is my surprised face
@baldur my current saying to address the impact of this behavior on embodied, human experiences:, “AI won’t hear or see for you. Only your own brain does that!”

Comprehension debt is really something. My coworker just used Claude to 1) build a Kubernetes cluster and 2) analyse a twenty-year-old project (Visual FoxPro) and plan a rewrite, despite not knowing a single thing about Kubernetes or Visual FoxPro. And management ate it all up. I feel like I’m in The Emperor’s New Clothes all the time.
@baldur They have been pushing that "Don't Get Left Behind" line a lot lately. I'm hearing it in Higher ED even.

@baldur great article! I was brewing one of my own:

Don’t get left behind, say the people who wouldn’t put in the hours to learn. They are pioneers in a new field with skills beyond those of us who have spent 10’s or 100’s of thousands of hours learning, coding, debugging and shipping software.

Don’t get left behind say the people who slop out 10k lines of code per day, and don’t understand this is not to be celebrated.

Accept my PR and give me credit for the code I didn’t write or understand

@baldur @Binder the people who are enthusiastic comparing vibe coding to offshoring are so close to getting it...
