i would enjoy it if EU freedom of movement extended to canada, tbh

@eniko that would make it easier for me to get a tattoo
@eniko *looks at pic*
fair enough
@eniko i wouldnt mind automatically becoming a Canada 'citizen' by virtue of being an EU citizen lmao

@eniko

That would be absolutely amazing.

Says the guy who has loads of family in Canada.

But who also lives in the UK

@eniko Can I bring a moose back to EU then πŸ™‚ ?
@gilesgoat feel like you might still have to declare that at the border XD
@gilesgoat @eniko Gonna need a biiig container! Those suckers are huge.
@eniko how about joining this new defense pact I'm starting up, the "Not America Treaty Organization"? It assures a mutual response to aggression from the USA.
@eniko I suspect this would prompt an increase in tech folk moving from the US to Canada, too, fwiw, since it greatly expands the potential employer pool.

@eniko not gonna lie ... EU can be frustratingly over regulated, be slow as hell and still does have its fair share of your run off the mill corruption that is masked as "for the people".

We still do have a UK slot free now. Maybe just try to apply, fill out 10.000 pages of paperwork and wait for 10-25 years for consideration. Might get lucky 🀞

(In all honesty I still like and believe in the EU despite all of the frustrations).

@eniko yes to freedom of movement. Probably no on the Euro and ECB. Hard no on 50Hz power. In other areas, its hard to see what would be different. Trade and mobility are already pretty open. I think the evil forces of capital are more in danger of losing their grip over Europe as compared to other areas.
@eniko I think it'd be weird to keep calling it the EU if Canada joined, but I'm not opposed to it outright. I'm also not sure if that would fuck with some people I know who intend on bouncing between Canada and the EU due to restrictions on how long US citizens can stay in either region without a visa. If Canada becomes part of the Schengen Area, would the six months Americans have to get their shit together in a much safer place now become 90 days? Would that mean that someone who spent 90 days in Canada could now no longer find safe haven anywhere else in the EU if they haven't gotten a visa by then?
@eniko WE WILL BUILD A TRAIN LINE AND A CYCLING PATH FROM EU TO CANADA AND THE US WILL PAY FOR IT!!!! πŸ‡ͺπŸ‡ΊπŸ‡ͺπŸ‡ΊπŸ‡ͺπŸ‡ΊπŸ‡ͺπŸ‡ΊπŸ’ͺπŸ’ͺπŸ’ͺπŸ’ͺπŸ’“πŸ‡ͺπŸ‡Ί
@eniko yo let's do this, though technically Canada can join Schengen without joining the EU, soo...
@eniko In reality, European politicians are busy tearing that down internally to the Schengen area πŸ˜”
@eniko canada in the schengen area would be so cool
