For the February newsletter, we highlight why openness fundamentally conflicts with how Big Tech makes money by forcing people into ecosystems that only the company controls.

The final frontier Big Tech won't explore

This month we boldy go into the subject of our core innovation: openness, and why our competitors won't copy it. Plus, our merch store is go!

Building the Open Home

@openhomefoundation any idea when those tickets will be available?

I wanted to visit Utrecht anyway for vacation for that week.
Would be great to attend the state of the open home as well 🙃

@openhomefoundation The idea of Matter in relation to escaping company controls feels like it overlooks the fact there's a CRL for devices as part of Matter's spec, and HA obeys that CRL, meaning a manufacturer (Sonos? Belkin?) could add a device to that list, and it's no different than them dropping support now.

Even if it continues to behave without being disabled/deleted from HA, it'll never be able to be commissioned again.

This isn't freedom. This is the wrong kind of compromise.
