Thinking about sewing as a hobby and/or passion, as I'm gazing at my huge pile of clothes I want to iron. I love pretty and interesting, historically inspired clothes, but not as much as I love practicality and sustainability, and thus... I don't think I can be making very many clothes any time soon? I'm full up on almost everything and nothing currently needs replacing! I have some fabric for making a shirt or two, but they're summer weight and I certainly am not needing them any time soon...

But then, I do also know a lot of people enjoy seeing sewing content from me, as I like to explain what I'm doing and why, and the satisfying bits of it tickle many people. I sort of get it, as I like to watch costumers and sewists myself, but...

In any case. I'm not planning on doing much sewing soon, and don't feel like reposting old content, so if you'd like to look at sewing from me, I invite you do click the hashtags #Sewing, #HistoricalFashion and #HistoryBounding and "Browse posts from..." with my username, so you can see as much of the old stuff that has been federated to you!

I keep wearing clothes every day so there's fairly likely to be some mending content every now and then, but. Wow do I already have just so many clothes. So many. For almost every single occasion and need I can think of. And a bunch of extra just because! It's enough. 😆 I'm not a content creator so I don't need to keep making stuff to have eyes on me for a living, so I can just stop making them for a bit! And if I want to make something later, well. Ideally it's after I've retired something old.

@sinituulia
Congratulations on being well dressed! I'm a smidge jelly, as I do not have enough underwear¹ and most of it needs mending 😅, and there is a nasty deadline coming in my dayjob and I struggle to chose where to start, and.... eh.

¹ Historical underwear, that is. I've decided I hate bras. My linen shirts are getting thin in armpits.

@laumapret I had to be sewing for really very many years until I reached this point of actually having enough underwear! And I've had to replace a couple of shifts (and make them into lingerie) when they wore through enough in one spot or another. Ah. Now I have enough that I'm having trouble fitting them on hangers if I have them all clean at the same time.

I've found that one of the best ways to get something done is to procrastinate doing something else. As long as it doesn't spiral out to more than three works in progress at once...

@sinituulia
I don't hang my shifts and drawers, I just fold them in a very small stack. Only thing I hang is my one ruffled petticoat my partner recently gifted.

I kinda hope that you spend less time being unwell than I spend doing my work-work-workity-work... I'm struggling with time allocation for crafts recently. I hope that after the big, nasty deadline in April my summer will be more sewing and less stress-programming.

@sinituulia
Also, I recently discovered that when tired I more easily switch to knitting and crocheting, starting a new sewing project requires more brain.

@laumapret I have much more space to hang things than not, all of my linen drawers is taken up by towels, nightdresses and bedding. 😄 And there's the ADHD of not remembering it exists unless I see it, so having it all there when I'm picking what to put on is more convenient.

Recently I've been lost to the allure of books and fics that are expansive and imaginative enough that they should probably be called books instead. It's just so easy to stay in bed reading when feeling a bit unwell, when it's also a portal to other worlds!
