Today starts at Estació de França for a #Rodalies freebie to Tortosa. It beats lugging my bags to the Hife bus stop on Avinguda Diagonal later on.
Today's fauna at Estació de França. I am a bad gricer, can't tell you what they are or if it's a full set but it must be close if not.
BLOOD ON THE DANCEFLOOR
While we're waiting... these (or one of their sisters) were the very first #RateMyBuffers
I don't think a train has left for nearly an hour now. #Rodalies

I'M ON THE TRANE

(bonus SMUT edition)

I'M ON ANOTHER TRANE

Change of rolling stock. Current delay: 1h 04m and counting.

... and we're off.

1h 07m late.

It turns out it wasn't a change of train but a cancellation. Now at Sant Vincenç de Calders waiting for an onward connection.
Refresh rate on the #Rodalies screens won't let me show you that it was 1400 on platform 4 but 1358 on the adjacent platform 2.
While we're waiting, here's one of the pair of dual-gague lines at Sant Vincenç de Calders. The standard gague is positioned away from the platform, no non-Iberian gague passenger service anticipated here it seems.
@tops There is a parallel high speed line, so I suppose it makes sense? Just about?
@jon I don't know if it's for freight, long distance or both. A new line was opened south of Tarragona and I think that is dual gague too, certainly dual-gague enabled if not. Roger Senserrich was my main source for information on what is going on with the so-called Mediterranean corridor but he's on substack these days. :-/
@tops might @trenvista know more? But honestly other than the cross border lines, Spain is not one of my stronger countries - I don't speak Spanish so do not follow it nationally very closely.

@jon I do know that the powers that be only started looking at repurposing the old line to run a tram service *after* it had closed. 🤦🏻 Work might finally start this year.

@trenvista

@jon NOT dual gauge on the new section

@trenvista

Dual-gauging is to be complete next year.
North of Vilaseca (Tarragona) for freight only (Passenger trains run on the HSL) South of Vilaseca (Tarragona): passengers + Freighters

@pglux.bsky.social @tops @jon between Barcelona and Vila-Seca (Tarragona) dual gauge is being deployed in the classic line through St Vicenç. The section between Vila-Seca and Castellón (new section included) will be MIGRATED to 1435 mm.

It's going to be funny for Iberian gauge freight trains.
