Former Norwegian Prime Minister Thorbjørn Jagland has been arrested in relation to The Epstein Files.

Former Prince Andrew has been arrested in the UK.

But in the US, where Trump is mentioned in the Epstein files for raping children and other crimes, he is still running the country and no investigation is conducted.

That makes absolutely no sense.

@randahl It makes a lot of sense. It is the true essence of the American Dream: once you have money, you can do whatever you want.

Even this.

It never was about workers getting rich enough to afford a house from their wages.

It always was about already rich people abusing everyone else and getting even richer.

@randahl

Exactly… the USA are morally and ethically bankrupt…

Only justice will be able to mend it.

@randahl seems the holy constitution and all the talk about “rule of law” stays in just words, not actions…. Unless it regards foreigners, where the full weight of the law is applied. Their true religion is not democracy and freedom, it is the Monroe Doctrine.
@randahl In a dictatorship it makes sense.
@randahl Seems that the difference between a monarchy and a Trump oligarchy is that you can arrest the monarchy.
@Koochulainn @randahl as well as said oligarchy throwing out every shiny distraction imaginable
@randahl Unless proven otherwise, he tells the US and the world: Look at me, I'm the reflection of the true USA in the mirror. Enjoy...
@randahl
'The land of the free' for those with the money to buy it.
The U.S. judiciary is elected / chosen by politicians and so far from the independence a democratic society should have.
@randahl Sure, but the former and quite unpopular prince is a «safe» arrest, plus he was arrested for divulging trade secrets, not… other things. And they haven’t touched e.g. Richard Branson, a UK billionaire named in the files as wanting Epstein to bring his «harem»…

@randahl

You have Jagland, you have former Prince Andrew, in France there's investigations (calling for possible victims to come forward), we see Justice is busy in Europe, we see justice is doing its job.

But how about the USA? What happened to justice for all?

@randahl It makes perfect sense that in an emerging dictatorship the wannabe dictator is immune from prosecution. Trump became president because it was the only way he was going to stay out of prison. He filled the justice department that would be investigating him with loyalists precisely so that they’ll protect him. The tragedy is that he could have been impeached, but the GOP is too cowardly. He could have been in prison, but the justice system was too slow.
@randahl
It makes no sense only if one expects a balanced system that tries to be fair with the people. In reality, that's just our wishful thinking, our projection onto a system that is everything but just: exploding inequality, rampant racism, corrupt SCOTUS, a captured by political money system, all prove the US is not what it pretended to be; a democracy. It's been an oligarchy for decades, now turning to #fascism, unable to deal with the crises it has created in the usual manner.

@randahl

I do agree with your conclussion but...

Jagland has not been arrested but has been charged with “gross corruption” by Økokrim (Norwegian economic crime unit).

Jagland has been interrogated by the police and three of his properties were searched by Norwegian police.

https://www.bbc.com/news/articles/c5yqr8eggvwo

Norway's former PM Jagland charged with gross corruption over Epstein links

The charge was brought after the Council of Europe lifted his immunity, which he had as its former secretary general.

@randahl Note that he's already been released and none of the accusation is about a sexual misconduct. Just a farce.
@randahl Here is one of his victims
@randahl Considering: 2016-2020 + last year + these last 2 months = republicans embrace the destruction of democracy, put pedophile rapists on pedestals, worship the rich with power and do not care 1 iota about whatever "virtue" or "moral" that they tout by beating their chests or clutching their pearls in melodramatic signaling - it [the GOP] is now (whatever it considered itself in the past) the party of nazi rebranded degenerates. No IMPEACHMENT, REMOVAL, or PROSECUTION is proof of this.
@randahl With a Republican Supermajority paid for by the billionaire class this is what we have been left with and it is sickening. Project 2025 is a strategy aimed at kneecapping democracy. We tried to warn people but they've captured the Christian Nationalists and racists and are cheating in any way they can. Public trust has been lost because we have so many liars running the show.

@randahl

Former PM. Former Prince. Current president in control of law enforcement.

It's simple.

@randahl 77 million people voted for the guy and another 90 million stayed home. The American people DECIDED that they didn't care.

@randahl

it makes perfect sense when you consider how humans - and power - work

humans are just animals, after all. Predators.

@randahl "Former" is the relevant word here. Former presidents Yoon and Bolsonaro have been sentenced to jail, current presidents are seldom even indicted (and the theoretical instrument against this pattern in the US – impeachment has proven to be quite ineffective).
