Childhood terrors we don’t discuss enough:

Revolving doors

Tickling adults

Adults shouting

Blood tests

Forgetting

Goodbyes

Sundays

Haircuts

Pick one from the list – give it the DS106 treatment. What is that, you ask? Face it head on and make art: A video, a poster, a photo, write a story…

@creating #tdc5152 #ds106 Highly derivative, here’s my tickling adult obviously based on my memory of Mr Tickle.(https://flic.kr/p/2rXrEQi)

In The Forgetting

Remember to hold
the moments
in your heart

For in the forgetting,
you're only letting
the unexplained in

Each of our tapestries
is memory, threaded
in ways, but fragile

@creating #tdc5152 #ds106 The fella holding the kid is my grandpa. The dangling kid is my dad.

As a kid, I recall being set up on top of the refrigerator at my grandpa's place. He and my dad would grab a leg, or both, and slowly pull me off. I would scream and they would laugh.

Many years later, my dad would drive my daughters around our neighborhood hills and, heading down a hill, suddenly scream, "The brakes don't work!" Everyone would scream.

I love you, dad. And I miss my grandpa.

The farmer (my Dad)
who would hold your hand
Then approach an electric fence
'is it on or not?'
We start squiggling
He holds the wire
He wears rubber boots
The shock is diminished
But passes straight to us
One pulse, two...we squeal
He lets go.
Until we were old enough
To hear the gentle clicking
Where a blade of grass
Bounced off the wire
That's how you know whether it is on or not.

Thanks for sharing your memory Todd.
@wentale @toddconaway @creating Great story ... a pulse from the past
@wentale @creating how wonderful! That is a good one! ❤️
