Shit, shit, shit. Android display all black after turning on inverted colours. Doesn't reset to normal on reboot and now I can't unlock the phone. Any tricks to be done in recovery?
This is all the phone does on reboot. Shows logos, warnings, the lineage OS animation, a split second of the lockscreen and then nothing. No button presses get any reaction so far other than holding power/vol down to get to fastboot and reboot from there.
The phone was completely fine till I enabled "invert colours" from the swipe down menu becuse of a annoyingly white website. 😢
Swiping about where the pattern should be makes the phone do some vibrations signalling a wrong pattern. I know that I only get so many pattern retries before the phone goes into an even more bricked state.
These are the times where I hate how secure phones have become. Unfortunately, the phone can't discern between a border patrol agent trying to scan my phone for terrorist activities and my personal laptop trying to enable adb for resetting a dumb setting.
I DID IT!!! Blindly swiping at the approximate places where the unlock pattern and settings menu should be did the trick! The second try after two hours oft sleep tonight.

@sophie might help to tell us the actual phone model!

anyways, this looks roughly like a 2023 motorola, so chances are it outputs displayport over USB-C and you could try attaching an external screen to see if there's anything shown that just gets lost in color inversion

@funkylab No reaction to any of the usb-c to hdmi adapters I have laying around. That was the very first thing I tried.
@sophie sad :(
@sophie but maybe try a usb-c to displayport cable, too; unlike HDMI, there is native DP as USB alt mode; though this gets really into grasping at straws
@sophie do you see your phone appear on your wlan? (just as a functional check)
@sophie I've had this problem. too with C->HDMI, but it always worked fine with C->DP (if it worked at all) @funkylab
@sophie You could try to enable TalkBack by pressing and holding both volume buttons. Caution: It's very different to use, read up on it first.
@henryk Can talkback get around the unlock swipe pattern?
Phone model is a Motorola Edge 30 running #lineageos 23.2.
@sophie if you have developer mode enabled and usb debugging enabled you could change the settings back via adb?
@tk es, I could, but allowing adb access involves tapping an allow button, which needs an unlocked phone, which in turn needs a working display.
@tk I'd need a way to unlock and allow adb without the screen working.
@sophie yes, you could unlock via adb as well, maybe check where the field would pop up when you connect the usb cable and allow it blindly?
@sophie @tk you could try using a usb keyboard or trackpad. My usb c dock works perfectly when using to charge it...
