Statement regarding#ThriveMessenger
One user is claiming that we're starting drama all because we're not letting certain people on who have a track record of questionable behavior on other platforms. Let me make this clear: Thrive Messenger is not Elten, where people can get away with murder, figuratively speaking. This is a messenger, and either if we get reports of users causing discomfort for other users, or a user with a known track record signs up, we will not tolerate that. Just thought I'd make that clear, as I want Thrive Messenger to be a safe platform for people to communicate on, and to do that we need to make sure that people are behaving responsibly.
@alexchapman Is this Thrive Messenger thing for Windows or iOS or what? I'm thinking of getting it.
@randomuser Windows, but it can be ran on Mac. IOS and Android will be coming at some point.
@alexchapman Can you install it as a standalone installer on Windows or is it portable?
@randomuser Both installer and portable options.
@alexchapman How do i get it or do I have to compile it? I'm developing a replacement TeamTalk UI but I have to compile mine.

@alexchapman One thing you will need to fix is the Windows Defender flagging it, and you then have to click more info and then run anyway. Have you thought about certificates?
@randomuser That costs quite a bit of money, but people are fine with hitting more info and run anyway.
@alexchapman I've managed to install Thrive Messenger and get it running at least.
@alexchapman @randomuser Not for an open-source project, at least not as of recently. Give https://signpath.org/ a look. They'll codesign for free upon a successful review. You've got an edge if you're looking to move more towards building on/within XMPP for federation since you'll have established security standards to work off of.

@jackf723 @randomuser I think @cubic looked into that once and the setup was a pain to do or something, can't remember what it was as it was a while ago when this was discussed.
@alexchapman @randomuser @cubic I wonder what about it was complicated? Most cert providers are a complication in one way or another, Signpath is minus the cost of course. Worth noting that any one of these providers is going to take your code through human review before issuing a cert, at least the initial on, and particularly Signpath given it's free of charge.
@jackf723 @randomuser @cubic I think there's some sort of Excell shite or something I can't remember.
