Present thought

Mastodon's the right model. But to be truly *useful* politcally - the Bluesky/Mastodonian idea of "we will make our safe space over here" might be pleasant for many and that's fine

But they're not healthy for useful political discourse, which is often ugly, but generates the necessary talk.

The discussions I'm seeing on Twitter/threads e.g. left v. liberal are finally getting "good." (among others)

#socialmedia #mastodon #twitter #blackfedi #blackmastodon

@jrm4 @blackvoices What does that mean in plain, direct speak?

@donhawkins @blackvoices

In places like this, I see a whole lot of far-left criticism of the "moderates" i.e. "liberals/democrats" et al.

And a thing I hadn't seen much of (IMHO, because "liberals/dems" are not much spending their time online and actually out there getting things done --

but now a lot of "moderate" pushback happening on Twitter.

@jrm4 @blackvoices Not sure I followed that. I think the likes of Jessica Craven manages both (online criticism & very energetic in real world efforts). There are others. I ‘suspect’ critics on Mastodon are “purists” versus on commercial apps, accounts are more monetized.
