I need #MicrosoftWord in #Linux. Why? Because, for instance, I need to edit shared documents online with other colleagues. #Office online is not an alternative for me: I tried it, but it's too limited, compared to the standalone app. So, why not to exploit #WayDroid for desktop? I tried it, but, correctly, #Microsoft intune configuration blocks it from running... how to solve it? Is there an #opensource alternative of #Word working even for online shared documents?
@auinobackonlinux
I would recommend installing the Windows Office via https://www.winboat.app/
This will integrate in a linux Window very nicely and will give you access to the host filesystem. Just make sure to have an eye on Internet access, any successful Malware infection will have disk access as well.

WinBoat
@SalemsLot Tested and it is working: I now can open #MicrosoftWord and other #Office365 apps from #Ubuntu, like if it's a native software (although using a #Docker container running #Windows)... interesting solution, thanks again.
@auinobackonlinux Generally i think running Office on Linux via Wine, PlayOnLinux, etc is futile and wasted time. MS is actively working against that idea and makes it as inkompatible as possible. Winboat does the minimal containerization and can be completely stopped when not needed or reprovisioned...the lesser evil. I am fine with libreoffice and using outlook in the Browser.
@SalemsLot in my case, I often need to work on shared documents in parallel with other colleagues. I tested open alternatives in the past, but none was providing a good experience when sharing documents with MS users.
@auinobackonlinux True. The battle for open formats is an uphill one.
@SalemsLot well, it should be not just on single file format, but also on an interoperable open communication protocol for managing shared files, independently on the used application.
