#rayshader adventures, an #rstats tale

@terence extremely nerdy of me to notice there are some major interstate interconnectors missing 😉
@jimbob Oops! Let me check 😅
@terence @jimbob yeah Basslink (Tasmania-Victoria) isn’t showing, and there’s weird artefacts in the Victorian Alps and on the NSW North Coast. Possibly something related to which voltage has been picked as the cut-off: 66kV is considered distribution or sub-transmission in some places but in others it’s transmission (usually when it’s the interconnection to a wind or solar farm)
@terence @ThermiteBeGiants for some reason I thought the SA-Vic interconnector was further north, but having looked now I can see that one is correct
@jimbob @terence I think this map is fully missing HVDC lines like MurrayLink (Renmark SA to Red Cliffs VIC) and EnergyConnect (the newly-commissioned NSW-SA 330kVAC interconnector). And no connection to Kangaroo Island either. These lines all show up on OpenInfraMap and the official AEMO map, what on earth is the source data? There's embellishment along the VIC-SA border as well... 🤔
@terence @ThermiteBeGiants yes, MurrayLink, that's what I was looking for!
@jimbob @ThermiteBeGiants Thanks for pointing this out. I'll check my source (World Bank) and my code.

@terence @jimbob OpenInfraMap is clearly more accurate. Cross-check against the AEMO map (https://www.aemo.com.au/aemo/apps/visualisations/map.html)

(This is something I am weirdly passionate about)

@terence No power in Alice?
