Going through my semi-regular annual playthrough of Pan Sonic's discography. Never seems to get old.
@TROG do you have a particular fave?

@tsrono It's hard to pick just one!

I particularly enjoy the first 4 albums: Vakio, Kulma, A, and Aaltopiiri, with A being my favorite since it was my first.

I like Kesto as well because it covers a lot of ground (it's just over 4 hours long with the last track taking up its own disc) and I'd highly recommend it to newcomers.

I think Atomiin Paluu is a great example of their later work as well.

@TROG @tsrono agreed. they are my number one electronic music of all time. i remember buying vakio when it came out on the recommendation of my local record store clerk/friend. i was just totally blown away. changed my life.

@emenel @tsrono Yeah, they're up at the top of my list too. I had a similar experience when first hearing them.

I got A circa 2000 and don't quite remember where I had heard about them. I was already heavily into Aphex, Autechre, Squarepusher, etc. at the time but hearing that album was the first time I had really encountered such minimalism that was so powerful. The only other thing I could connect it to at the time was Selected Ambient Works Vol. II I guess. I was immediately hooked.

@TROG @tsrono awesome!! i love that. same here, i was already into lots of electronic/strange music and punk/hardcore. something about vakio felt like a punk album to me.

in 2001 i released my first album on a label, and it’s a total panasonic homage.

@emenel @tsrono I was also coming from a punk/metal background too!

Do you mind sharing that album? I'd like to check it out.

@TROG @tsrono sure! thanks for asking, i didn’t want to spam my own stuff lol.

looks like it was actually in 2000…

@emenel @tsrono Thanks! I'll slot it in after I'm done listening to Kulma again. :)
@emenel I very much dig this. Can definitely hear the Pan Sonic homage. Thanks for sharing!
@TROG thanks so much! :) i’ve been thinking about doing some new music in the vein again …
@TROG @emenel thanks for the recs from both of y'all...i've only given some of their stuff a spin, definitely need to correct that in the future. saved this in my notes for later
@tsrono @emenel You're very welcome! Enjoy! Let us know if anything sticks out to you.
@TROG @tsrono @emenel Just wanted to say thanks for this thread. Cheers.
@lossless @tsrono @emenel You're very welcome! Thanks for stopping by.
