So.

Moved to a new house this week. The day we closed escrow, we discovered we weren’t the first tenants.

A squirrel 🐿️ had taken up residence in a space under the kitchen cabinets. It’s still there, scolding the dogs and scampering around the house at night. Chews up any loose wires I forget to hide.

A pest control company wants $1,700 to “seal the house” and trap it. Ha ha ha.

I have a pair of live traps on the way today, and will set them up outside its two hiding places tonight.

What is best to attract a squirrel? I have pistachios, and will get peanuts at Costco.

Rocky the Flying Squirrel* ate the few pistachios I set out yesterday, figuring if he got used to food on the floor he’d gladly walk into a trap for more.

I may have overdone it - no sign of him this morning, and traps are empty.

I think I hear gentle snoring coming from the corner cabinet 💤

* If you have a dog named Moose, it’s only right for the squirrel to be named Rocky.
