So, back in my day *shakes cane* folks did guest posts on other blogs for cross pollination of #ttrpg crowds / content.

Is that still a thing?

If not, is there a new equivalent?

@mrlich Guest blog posts are still a thing, and guest appearances in other media (videos, etc) are often their equivalent in those media.

@eishiya that makes sense. I suppose I should have just thought about the idea of old media v. new media.

And I'm psyched to hear that guest blogging is still a thing. It always just made SO much sense to me, and I appreciated it as a reader.

@mrlich I was personally never a fan of it - when I read a personal blog (edit: i.e. a blog on some topic written by a single person, not a diary), it's to read that person, not someone else, so if there's a guest post more than once in a blue moon, I'll probably stop following that blog entirely. I do like to find cool new people to read, but I'd prefer to see collaborations where they instead write separate takes on the same or related subjects and link to one another, not guest posts.

@eishiya a very good point. I guess it depends on whether the blog in question is about a specific topic other than a personal or autobiographical blog.

iow - if I'm reading a blog about TTRPGs, I'm less likely to be bothered by a guest post than one on LiveJournal (or the like).

I also really like your idea of a collab. THAT seems idea almost regardless of the general style / content of the blog since it has some of the owner's mojo in the post. #GoodCall
