I so bad want to use Linux on a phone.
When will the time have come to use it as a daily driver?

@purple @pine64 @postmarketOS @phosh
Well..It depends, the pinephone is very stable and everything works AFAIK, so close to be a daily driver, but it's very slow, you have to be very patient with it. Waydroid on it it's a pain. Other phones are faster (even if i never tried myself) but less stable or with some feature still not working.
Anyway the day will come, and even if now linux on mobile still lacks some feature to be comparable with iOs or android, it has convergence, i mean...
@daimonbeing @pine64 @postmarketOS @phosh what's the experience like with pinephone like? It's my understanding that lack of GLES3 on that device means GTK4 apps wont work. Is that limiting at all?
@hazematman @daimonbeing @pine64 @postmarketOS @phosh GTK4 apps work, they just use the cairo renderer. Things only fail if an app forces the GL renderer for some reason rather than getting the GL context by other means.
@agx @daimonbeing @pine64 @postmarketOS @phosh oh wow that's great then! What's the performance like in those app? Are things like gnome web, calls, messages, etc usable? Or is it too slow?
@hazematman @agx @pine64 @postmarketOS @phosh
Slow by today standards, but usable, gnome web IDK.
