Jeff Bezos could literally have subsidized the Washington Post for 20 years at a TOTAL cost of a fraction of 1 percent of his net worth.

Instead he put 300 professionals out of work and destroyed the institution that inspired me and a lot of others to become journalists.

Anyway, fuck that guy.

The destruction is the goal. At no point in time did Bezos consider WaPo as a profitable business. It was a nuisance and now it's gone.

Jeff Bezos obviously didn't buy the WAPO to make money or do journalism, so that leaves only one plausible reason why he would.

@bruce I dunno. It was a bit of reputation washing when he bought it back in 2013. And it was theoretically a money-maker with some investment. But then he got divorced and found a new toy and lost interest in his journalism toy. And then it became a liability in Trump 2.

@edbott I stopped shopping at amazon a year ago. I only use amazon as a search engine for interesting products, which I then go to buy somewhere else.
If using the wishlist I put URLs of external shops. But replace dots by commas as amazon deletes now links inside of wishlists. Seems I am not the only one doing that.
