This will be the last #Mastodon post that will be bridged to #Bsky!

Choosing another protocol, okay sure we can work with that. But hosting and even verifying criminal orgs like #ICE is just a spit in the face

Almost everything is PUBLIC on Bsky, It's not a viable decentralized alternative, since hosting it all yourself would bankrupt almost anyone

So if you want to keep following me, please do join the #Fediverse https://mstdn.social/invite/C3pBKk4Y

Or better, host your own!

If you ever enabled bridging to #Bsky and you also want to disable it, you can do so here:

https://fed.brid.gy

Bridgy Fed

Bridgy Fed is a bridge between decentralized social networks like the fediverse, Bluesky, and web sites and blogs.

@stux

I don't see where to do that on that page.

@Bette You can "login" with your Mastodon account and disable bridging

But only if you enabled it, it's not automatic enabled by default

@stux

I follow a bridged account and I recall allowing it, but when I try to login, it says it can't find me. Is the fact that I can see the bridged account's posts proof that I must be bridged??

@stux

what has never been public are their deliberations on how they plan to provide a ROI on the VC.

I think it's about using their runway to grow and displace AP as much as possible, so that AT can become the protocol for "decentralized" social media. then because of how their protocol works and the costs involved, bluesky becomes the Google of their social web. everything runs through them, even though people could technically use alternatives etc. then they enshittify. my guess anyway.

@stux Good choice! I debridged also. Too risky.

@stux

l don't think is the right way.
Bluesky is an instance.

Doing this, you're defederating also the admins and people of #blacksky, gander, the new launched #eurosky , their blog and video AT things...

@luca @stux

I think it's up to stux what they want to do.

I stay on bsky for now, but as things change that may change for me too.

@luca @stux but that's exactly the problem, it's NOT just an instance, it's a whole centralized service that controls all it's users accounts and relies on account numbers being kept high, no matter what AP proponents may say. There's no way to "only" block the corporate bluesky that promotes ICE while keeping those others due to said centralization, the only way to break support for that instance is to break the connection entirely.

@raptor85 @stux

(I'm not a fan of that thing, given how much complicated for no reason is, but) as far as I know, at least#blacksky has the full stack duplicated.

I know that the source corporation has 99% of the users and blah blah blah, but blocking the communication right now that are starting to emerge alternatives there, in my humble opinion, is a mistake.

Once normies find out that they can change provider, while keeping their contacts, they will love it and understand the main feature of the fediverse, the one that is so hard to explain people why it matters.
Then we just need some marginal enshittification and they will be ready to switch .

@luca since @stux is just talking about his own account no longer posting over to the BSky side I don't see what's the big deal.

@ikuturso @stux

i'm just talking too, since @stux is a great guy and fediverse admin, and I value his opinions on these topics.
I just think he, and Eugen, and others, with their influence (sorry for the bad word) are severing what I consider infrastructure.
There is no way that a trolling Us state account there, can cause an issue here, and we can block that single account.
It's just a valid political statement.

If only I could be seen here also from friends using X, or IG, but I can't.

*sky users, on the contrary, can have a view on the #fediverse and what a better publicity

@stux I'm right here from Blue sky for the same reason.

Platforming Nazis is not the same as giving users equal rights. Moderation cannot be outsourced to algorithms.
