Thoughts on False Profits:

It's nice to see Voyager follow up on a classic TNG episode ("The Price"). I wish Voyager's writers invested more heavily in cross-series follow up concepts such as this one.

I'd have liked them to take advantage of the whole premise, with more Maquis animosity, and a failing ship on a long journey. They fell into the groove of "doing what works". It did work, but I think it could've been a better show if they arrived back in the Alpha quadrant with a taped together ship, some of the crew as Borg drones, and maybe some other species picked up on the way. Then a 0.5-1 season of them re acclimating to "civilization"

@lxskllr @startrek That is probably the most damning part of the show. It feels like the first set of show runners (Piller and Taylor) were always creatively fighting with the very risk averse executives at Paramount. Problem was: the fate of an entire (expensive) television network was riding on the success of Voyager and that made the Paramount executives quite nervous about "changing the formula" and/or taking risks (especially in the first few seasons).

I think Enterprise had a lot of studio meddling also, and didn't proceed as it was originally imagined.

One infamous story was the suggestion of having a boy band in the canteen. Having just watched Buffy, do you think that's where they got the idea of having a 'band of the week'? I wasn't watching tv back then, so I don't know if that was common, but the timing lines up pretty good, and Buffy was popular...

@lxskllr @arazil @startrek Enterprise really missed an opportunity by not have The Bronze on the ship 😆
