I am convinced that most people grow down rather than up.
You try explaining slavery to a small child and it makes no sense to them.
It takes "growing up" to become a fully bigoted adult.
Children don't have enough fear beaten into them yet to cling to those prejudices to avoid more beatings.
Frankly, it boils down to most adults being cowards beaten down by capitalism.
