There's a lot to answer in this Home Office consultation on making the UK inhospitable for people from other countries. But respond we all must. By 12 February.
The direction seems to be: make everyone unhappy & the economy worse, to court voters who don't like foreigners.

If Peter Mandelson and Andrew Mountbatten Windsor had been born outside Britain one would have been granted leave to remain based on their employment record. The other; dependent on tax-payer handouts, probably not.

@OneInterestingFact you jest, of course because migration laws don't really apply to the wealthy. They can fly over the walls that imprison normal people in their place.
