Have you seen this? I'm afraid this will make it even more difficult for trans people to receive gender affirming health care.

@Sci_Fi_FanGirl Argh... Gender affirming health care has very low regret rates, detransitioning is extremely rare. But - yes, this case will make it harder for everyone. As if the political landscape wasn't bad enough as it is for transgender people. And it plays right into the TERF argument "but they are minors, how could they possibly know?"
It's worth noting that this was a jury decision, so this is very likely the result of the current political climate in the US. I assume that this legal fight will go to the next instance but whether it will change anything is an open question...
@Sci_Fi_FanGirl Supposedly, the mother was against the surgery and only agreed because she was afraid that her daughter would commit suicide otherwise. An idea supposedly reinforced by the psychologist (who has been working with her for two years at this point). They are generally accusing the psychologist of pressuring her into the surgery and ignoring her uncertainty about her gender identity.
Quite frankly, having seen only some basic infos on her condition prior to surgery, I have little doubt that the psychologist had good reasons to advise a surgery. And saying "they should have waited until her depression was contained" is utter bullshit - how long is one supposed to wait with a depression *caused* in part by gender dysphoria?
