i've always thought it was weird that mages just wear robes and not armor in most settings. surely a bit of leather armor wouldn't hurt movement that much. (this one was hard! and there's still stuff that i dislike about it, but pushing myself is good) #pixelart #ドット絵 #art #mastoart #DigitalArt #witch #foxgirl
@xvln  cool pretty lady!
@xvln I loved your solution! Protects vital body points and seems really ergonomic and light, perfect for mages. Beautiful artwork, really pretty style
@xvln I like it a lot, and the magical fx add a lot of dynamism, well done!
@xvln looks great

@xvln d&d 3 making a "buckler" out of mithril reduced the spell casting penalty to nothing, so you'd get high level wizards with a single armored forearm

irl there's a pretty specific order people tended to armor up in, so now i'm imagining wizard hats enlarged to fit helmets underneath and staves that magically project shields

@xvln Woah, that's some stunning artpiece!
@xvln This is *gorgeous* and I'm envious of this skill and design level.
(maybe i'll get there some day :p)
@xvln In my headcannon it usually is because leather attenuates magic really well, which can make spell casting harder. Specifically it is often used for scrolls and grimoires for exactly that reason. But the logical conclusion for that would be, that mages have to wear plastic clothing, which while hilarious (mage in polo shirt and rain coat), doesn't really feel very magical anymore!
@xvln I always assumed they had at least some leather if not a chain mail vest under the robes because in a world with lots of sharp and pointy things you'd be an idiot not to.
