This is the scene at platforms 3/4 at Richmond Station for passengers waiting for a train to Frankston. Never seen it like this before.

Looks like the first major disruption post-Big Switch for the #MetroTunnel People seem to be catching Frankston trains to get around it where they can. https://transport.vic.gov.au/disruptions/disruptions-information/article/cranbourne-and-pakenham-lines-buses-replacing-trains-on-tuesday-3-february-2026

More generally on the Tunnel, as others have pointed out:

1) the messaging and comms for City Loop / Flinders St / Metro Tunnel needs to be improved
2) interchange conditions at Caulfield / Malvern need a big improvement given how much more heavy lifting these stations will be doing
3) the issues caused by legacy decisions outside the scope of the Metro Tunnel need to be addressed (see previous toots)

Heh I didn't notice there was a disruption. Because the Cranbourne / Pakenham Lines don't go through Richmond anymore, there was no information there.

I think this is another thing that can be improved now that the network is more reliant on interchanges. It may be important to know what is happening on another line, even if it doesn't directly go to your station.

@philip wait what about those line status boards?
@arfman They're only outside the two ticket gates facing blank walls. Easy to miss and none on the platforms.

@tonyr641 Yeah I just saw that. I didn't realise there was a disruption as there was no information at Richmond!
@philip this is probably as a result of the frankston line running anticlockwise through the loop for no reason, now the majority of frankston line commuters have to switch at Richmond in the morning as it is the fastest way to Flinders street.
