At 40 you should be leaning into the 'not giving a fuck mindset'. You should be doing what you enjoy.

Not sure on that since you've worked like a dog your whole life? Then, lucky you. It's now time to go experimenting.

BTW, if this was a milestone question then you should know that there is no normal.

Part of the 'not giving a fuck' mindset is you learn not to compare yourself to others. That's a sure way to depression. Someone is always going to do better than you.

There's something called the reality gap. Basically we all have goals and aspirations. Thing is we often can't achieve them.

There's only x amount of people who get to be astronauts. Those who work hard may never reach the goal of becoming an astronaut. But in working towards that goal they gain skills they never once had. They still move forward. But yet they can only see that they didn't become an astronaut.

That's the reality gap. Not seeing what was achieved. Only what was missed
