A man in his sixties - understood to be MP #DanNorris - has been further arrested on suspicion of rape, sexual assault, voyeurism and upskirting, Avon and Somerset Police has said.

Mr Norris, currently the independent MP for North East Somerset and Hanham, was formerly a member of the Labour Party, until he was suspended in April 2025 after being first arrested by Avon and Somerset Police.

@Geri Why aren’t MPs subject to being recalled by their constituency whenever they become embroiled in legal issues? If he were my MP, I’d want to have an immediate by-election to replace him. 🤔

@Geri considering the high profile resignation from the Labour party upper echelons yesterday, to this report today labour seems to have a remarkable affinity to people who indulge in dubious behaviour. Just like the party they replaced at the top of the UK greasy pole. Perhaps centralisation of political control enhances the risk of such nasty people being selected to represent the party. Something for voters to consider both in by-elections and in May's elections.
