Signal is lacking the option to block receiving voice messages.

If you want to talk to me, call me.
If you want to talk into your phone, use dictation.

@marble @nblr completely agree. I recently took 20m to research and install a local speech to text model to not have to listen to a 15m voice message.
@hhf @marble @nblr yeah I just wish they would integrate a small whisper model or the like to offer privacy preserving transcription within the app.

@Kiki @hhf @marble @nblr But this shouldn't be on the receiver anyway.

Transcription - and the associated validation of correctness - should be something the sender does.

(There are a few people I'm willing to receive voice messages from, because I know they'd only do it when it's unavoidable or they're impaired somehow.)

@marble all messengers need this

I hate voice messages with the burning passion of a thousand suns

@marble

Yesss! I want this feature! @signalapp

@marble A friend of mine uses his status to compensate. It says "I ignore all voice messages."

I'd really rather have the block option. Who writes a feature request for @signalapp ?

@marble you just need to convince the sender that there is a block function:)
"Sorry, your message has been blocked. The recipient has chosen to not accept voice messages. Your message has been deleted automatically."
@drayde @marble now need a feature request for canned responses.
