Virtually 200 bloody quid for a 16GB #raspberrypi now. Tell ya what, if someone wanted to price RP out of business, they couldn't do a better job! Sad times 😞

More memory-driven price rises - Raspberry Pi

Memory-driven price rises for Raspberry Pi 4 and 5, and Compute Module 4 and 5, products; 1GB variants, and Raspberry Pi 400, are unaffected.

Raspberry Pi

@recantha but if they buy the same RAM chips from the same places won’t they have the same supply issue?

Edit. Oh. I misread you. My bad.

@recantha 😱😱😱😱😱😱😱😱😱

@recantha Raspberry Pi: "AI Is increasing RAM prices"

Also Raspberry Pi: "New AI Hat with 8GB of RAM"

@Ryanteck I know, I said the very same thing when it came out. Talk about shooting yourself in the foot.
@recantha I do wonder what the use case is for 16g. I got one about a year ago but I was disappointed by the performance when I tried to build a desktop around it. It's now my NFS server and it is excellent at that but I have at least 12g more than I need for that.
@paulb @recantha I got the 16GB pi 5 to play with AI models, many of which are 8GB on their own. Only to test feasibility, performance is obviously magnitudes slower than a PC GPU. Still, fast enought for an LLM response in seconds, not minutes.
