@IceNine @jackyan It's a work of art other than rebuilding the engine I would not change a thing added to watch list and a lotto ticket bought

Anyhoo, a few beauts today, but first this - get it and you too can pick the car of your choice

@IceNine @jackyan I've pretty much had one of these, was an MG though good for 90mph confirmed
@GruffHarding @IceNine Ah, but was yours twin-carb with the 1300?

@jackyan @GruffHarding

I'd hope so!

Thing I like about older cars, you lift the bonnet and can immediately recognise an engine!

@IceNine @jackyan twin carbed 1100.. It was the top of line, was Morris, Riley then MG. Hydrolastic suspension for a smooth ride, ran circles around the Triumph Herald.

@GruffHarding @jackyan

A nice honest car, with honest description

I think @BobLefridge left it sitting out the front for a few years

Trade Me
@IceNine @GruffHarding @BobLefridge I think this shows how restrictive Trade Me is with descriptions. The seller probably wanted to write Fiat 124 Sport Spider but couldnʼt.

@jackyan @GruffHarding @BobLefridge

That said, they'd otherwise have a zillion categories

And someone would probably moan something like "Why isn't there a category for a Super Windy Starlet?" instead of being embarrassed by such a daft name

@IceNine @GruffHarding @BobLefridge No need for categories, just let the seller type in the name? Itʼs in their interest to get the details right.

@jackyan @GruffHarding @BobLefridge

Yeah, there's always the 'Other' category too - only, as you've noted, it'll get called a Fiat Other

That said, this red beauty had the same issue

Trade Me
@IceNine @GruffHarding @BobLefridge How frustrating. Evidently programmed by morons who know zero about the car industry. They expect everyone to be in tiny conformist boxes, all filling in Toyota Corolla or whatever it is you buy to signal that you have given up on life.

@jackyan @GruffHarding @BobLefridge

Too true, but also they make up 90% of the population. It's also why I search using filters and not by make or model (colour is tempting) - that said, the quickest and most powerful way to undertake any selection is through it's manual 😆

Prize for rephrasing that into the original English translation

@IceNine @GruffHarding @BobLefridge They should allow for variations as Auto Trader (UK and NZ) do. I don’t use Trade Me at all when it comes to cars—would honestly prefer searching either Auto Trader NZ or dealer listings directly.

@GruffHarding @IceNine @BobLefridge Iʼd say Sunbeam was the sport brand. Prewar, and before Rootes, Singer was pretty innovative, so it was the more engineering-oriented brand.
@IceNine @jackyan chrome the rims on that before, pump the tyres good to go 😁. Although if I bought any of these I would have to live in it.
@GruffHarding @IceNine @jackyan I can't help but imagine an electric drivetrain in this.
