You have got to be shitting me
You have got to be shitting me
RFK made a statement a while ago about eating healthier and less processed foods, which is completely expected.
What wasnt expected or normal is him listing military readiness as a primary reason for a healthy population. I can’t believe I haven’t seen anything about people disecting that section of the statement.
It doesn’t matter. None of them care. They’ll shrug it off.
Principles mean nothing to GOP voters.
Start physical education earlier? PE and playground time type shit started in preschool.
If you want to bring down medical costs pay them directly through the government and ban insurance companies.
Drug company: “We’re going to raise the price of drug A.”
Proper response: “If you raise the price of your drug we’ll ignore your patent and sell it for half the cost so you lose sales”
Medical costs would fall and we’d have a healthier society
Gary.
Gary.
Get back into therapy, Gary.
Yeah, that didn’t happen.
Her policies didn’t touch colleges. Her changes didn’t get rid of calories. Why lie about someone stood like that? Why blame someone else because you didn’t eat enough?
Yeah, that did happen.
I was in highschool at the time, dumbass. Her changes absolutely did reduce calories. Why lie about something so easily verifiable? Why blame me because you can’t search the fucking internet?
The HHFKA authorized USDA to update the nutrition standards for school meals… Issued in January 2012, the standards increased… limited calories.
December 18, 2020 Ten years ago this week, the Healthy, Hunger-Free Kids Act of 2010 (HHFKA) was signed into law. This landmark legislation reauthorized the child nutrition programs and made significant investments in the child nutrition programs to expand access and improve nutrition quality. FRAC led advocacy efforts and worked closely with our local, state, […]
There were plenty of calories. I just looked at the limits. If you were failing to make weight, it was because you couldn’t afford enough food outside of school.
Your family being unable to afford the food to keep you proper size for sports is unfortunate and likely a result of systemic issues.
More unfortunate than that is the crazy huge childhood obesity stats we had in America, pointing to a poorly nourished population of children. Not to mention all the dirt poor children who received better access to warm meals as a result of the act being passed.
You said you were pissed at Michelle Obama in the past tense. Hopefully you’ve realized since then that there are other people who are more directly responsible for your issues.
And like, fuck the Obamas. Just not really a valid complaint. There are better things to be angry at them for.
Yeah I’m an anarcho-communist now, and I agree with you about almost everything you’ve said in this comment. However, the changes she made directly resulted in me loosing weight, and the only way to counteract that (for me as an individual) was by spending more money.
Yes, there are broader systemic issues, but I’m allowed to be mad about the direct, tangible cause of this specific thing I struggled with. I understand that I was collateral damage for something that was mostly a good thing, but the negative way it impacted me is real and my feelings about it are valid
Regarding your edit, you read wrong. I am struggling to find a firsthand source of the act itself, but here is a published study
schoolnutrition.org/…/Quantitative-Evaluation-of-…
If you scroll down to calorie requirements, it lists the different age groups. You may have read the maximum for young children, but the high schooler maximum was higher.
I’m glad we agree and quickly found common ground.
It is correct to say that you are allowed to feel angry. And that your feelings are valid. I would still argue that the complaint itself isn’t valid. You chose to make your personal feelings about how you were impacted a public discussion. I’m not mad at that. But it also means that I now get to point out the nuance of the situation for spectators that saw your comment and don’t understand the full story. Because you’re saying fuck Michelle Obama for the wrong reasons. And I want everyone to agree with the “fuck Michelle Obama” sentiment, but I don’t want it to be because of a misunderstanding about what was ultimately probably a positive policy that we then have to deprogram people over later.
I’m usually snarky because I’m an asshole, I don’t even think I was trying to snark you tho, I was just tired and bluntly stating facts.
Democrats: (do literally anything.)
Republicans: “OMG THEY’RE RADICAL LEFTIST COMMUNISTS!!”
What dems are you talking about here?
Pretty sure that biden increased deportations during his term. That obomber didn’t do shit for public healthcare. That libs fully support compulsory education, the MIC, car dependency, etc…
It’s supposed to be sarcasm, but realistically you’re just describing the dem platform.

My point was that catching Republicans in this seeming contradiction isn’t the “gotcha” that people think it is, because they advertise health and exercise for very different reasons, namely to strip away the last bits of public health insurance that Americans still have.
You’re probably right in that the left is more united about reforming health insurance than Democrats are overall. But it’s important not to miss the big picture.
Do Democrats want universal public health insurance?
I’ll take the bait and answer with the obvious: No.
Republicans want it
lol nah. It’s just some guy on xitter.
… I go to my favorite hot dog stand
And the dude says,
“You come here all the time! Here’s one for free”
I said, “Man! What I look like? A charity case?”
… I took it and threw it on the ground!
I don’t need your handouts!
I’m an adult!
Please!
You can’t buy me hot dog, man!
Key difference:
Democrats: let’s think systematically and use healthier school lunches to reduce childhood obesity
Republicans: how can we turn childhood obesity into a public humiliation ritual?
Republicans: how can we turn childhood obesity into a public humiliation ritual?
Don’t forget to make it a handout to big carnism and similar garbage capitalists.
My favorite is the one where Republicans go, “Why are immigrants getting healthcare for free, when I have to pay for it?!”
As if Democrats haven’t been pushing for universal healthcare.
If dems actually wanted to win, they would nominate Michelle.
Too bad that libs are fash collaborators.
I will say the presidential fitness tests were awful to go through, as someone that didn’t do well on them. Nothing we did in PE class prepared us for pull ups or situps, so it was always me laying on my back and one of the cheerleaders holding my feet down, encouraging me to do one situp.
I’ve never done a situp in my life. I first started trying in second grade-I remember the room I lay in, trying my by hardest. We moved the next year.
He stepped out of bed? Passed!
And let me tell ya, it’s a really hard test! You actually have to do one leg first, you can’t do that! And then comes the other -i have great legs, you know, the best legs, everybody knows I have the best legs, so strong, so strong, and then it has to go down on to the floor and then you need to bend over, shift your weight, and I am of a great weighti remember seeing this really fatso that couldn’t shift his weight, a disgrace for his country, everybody told me so, but he’s a great guy though, you would never believe the disgrace! And then you have to slowly move up but the knees, you know, we have great doctors nthat can just replace those things, can you believe it? We have the best medical doctors here. And the weather outside is so nice on this beautiful day but they really need to get rid of those nasty brown criminals.
Fuck, it hurt my brain writing that down
