Used to think of burn out as a weakling thing, but i have to admit the job
doesnt channel the same energy as before. Its become stale, and is starting to
feel like a drag. How does burnout present, and what can i do to get things back
under control?

What do you think we should replace it with? Some years back, when my country
replaced a corrupt, entrenched coalition govt of 60+ years, the winning party
sort of looked around and said: ‘uh… huh, OK, we won. We werent expecting to
win. Now what? We have no plan. Lolz?’ In that light, what do you think should
replace the big C, and how do we ensure human nature doesnt juat exploit it for
a few individuals benefit?
Is the role of a government to do the will of the people, or to do whats right for the country?

Im reflecting from the pov of a parents role re: the kids. If you give the kids
what they want, its going to be soda and candy every day of their lives. Some
deciaions are tough, e.g. delayed gratification, and holding ones ground, but do
voters even care about stuff like that? Can we even hope on common sense, when
the population is concerned?
Aight. Let's be honest. How many of you dress for yourselves, and how many dress for others?

Its all bots, isn't it? - Lemmy.World
All this. All the replies, all the posts. Just bots arguing with one another,
triggering you ‘juuust enough’ to engage and reinforce your bias with a dopamine
shot, so you continue to read and get enraged some more. At this point you can’t
even tell which is a person and which is not any more. All for the amusement of
a few powerful elites in control of the algorithm. Are we really so placated,
hopeless and in need for edification that we continue to participate, with no
real translation to real world personal development and action?

I think parents should always be there, as a friend, advisor, confidant, etc. my question was about the overbearing types that want to control your life. Maybe it’s about a lifestyle choice they disagree with, or a friend they don’t like, etc.

Asking because I just sat through a family feud within earshot at a local coffee
joint. Parents giving advice to son, who looked 30ish, all quite civil, full of
the ‘can I speak for a minute’, ‘your minute is up’ and so on, with some ‘when
we were your age’ and ‘you must/ will learn’ etc. Mum ended with ‘i don’t have
to justify anything to you’. My dad stopped once I got out of high school, but
mum seems to chime in from time to time. I’m well into my middle age.
