A year ago I wrote my big post about music apps (streaming and personal libraries), and I’ve spent the last few days updating a lot of it.

I’ve also been trialling the combination of Roon + Qobuz, which I’ve really liked. Still on the fence with that one.

My perfect Music app doesn’t exist - Hicks.design

A long dive into the features that make my ideal music app, and why nothing currently fulfils the brief.

@jonhicks nodding along to so much of this as I've been trialing everything in the last month. Much fewer options - and polish - on linux. Currently _mostly_ satisfied with Deezer, especially since I can hook into their internal API with Multi Scrobbler. Looking forward to Qobuz improvements though - lots of promise there.
@zackboehm Are those two the main choices on Linux?
@jonhicks You're kiinnda stuck with web players or third party Electron wrappers, at least for streaming services. Which I really don't have an issue with, but they can be lacking here or there. I believe Spotify is the only current big provider with a native client. Qobuz is working on an official client though!
