@hpower The only time I've ever seen this in the US is near family planning or maternity clinics, and *very specifcally* Ikea.

@BalooUriza I took this photo in the US around 2008. I think it was at a clinic in Plantation, Miami. That's where my son was born.

@hpower Oh well, there you go! I would have never guessed this to be a US parking space given the available context since they're so rare on this continent. I think Ikea does it for the same reason every Costco looks like it was designed for suburban Seattle, right down to one-way gas bars. "We designed it where we started and this meets or exceeds the requirements almost everywhere else, so we'll do it this way whether we have to or not"
