having such a hard time with cleaning but i just got a new clicky timer (my niece wrecked my last one twisting it the wrong way)

time for some lemondoro (lemon-shaped timer)

i managed to clean for 20 minutes!

the mechanical timer lets me leave my phone and computer in the other room so i don't get distracted. i put my ipod on

that room needs more work but there are a lot of garbage bags and boxes to the thrift store that have gone out

longtime followers might remember that i've been trying to clean this room for several years. i usually run out of steam or get sick or something
it has been kind of extra bad since we had to move a bunch of living room stuff in there so that they could repair the plaster wall. and i've just been super overwhelmed by it
there is still one more box of cranberry glasses that had belonged to my grandma that i packed up for the plaster repairs. i think it's gotta go to the basement.
there is also a prepaid mailer i meant to send to a friend who moved away... four years ago
the shirt i had started sewing and had been having trouble with fitting... is now scrap. some of those fitting issues have been surgically removed. but i think i traced the pattern so i won't have to print it out again
it's funny, the brian eno song that had come up on shuffle was 40 minutes long so i had no sense of time while i was in there with the timer on. wow, is this the same song?

managed 20 more minutes!

this one was quite cathartic. i found a dress i had cut out and begun to sew just as suddenly all my dresses started giving me massive dysphoria seemingly out of nowhere. it's this retro looking acetate with multicoloured blobs on it, and i was making kind of a 60s style dress. looks like i had cut out all the pieces and started sewing darts.

hoping i can maybe pair this with another fabric of a similar character to make a less fem shirt or something, that would feel quite nonbinary

also i have been looking for this one specific sewing tool (awl) for YEARS at this point and i kept thinking "well i haven't cleaned enough yet because i haven't found that awl"

swore it would be under my desk when i cleaned that out and then it wasn't there

and it was in the bag with the dress

so that feels good. i'm getting there

looking at fabric websites, i think wanting to sew real bad is going to get this room clean

ahhh that's such a nice plaid

i need to pick a small project to start with so that i can feel the satisfaction of finishing something

made a post about free succulents to locals because i have no room to sew

if you're reading this and we're local mutuals, free succulent

the room is so close to being usable. i almost have access to the hope(less) chest where i keep my fabric. i sorted a lot of paper things in magazine holders which i lined up under the desk where the filing cabinet guts contraption was. i put some artwork by me and others in a box which can go in the closet since i don't trust the basement not to get flooded again.

i always have a hard time with the really tiny items and doo dads. i'll still call it a win if they end up in a drawer.

if i can get down to the carpet and vacuum, then i can maybe also deal with my sewing drawers which are full of bra stuff. need to make another "free bra supplies" post on ig

i found a place for this box of letters my friends wrote me in high school. oof. now most of the letters are from someone who stopped talking to me five years ago, one is from a friend who passed away, who was always struggling with whether to stay my friend or not because she was torn being a jehovah's witness. a lot of memories in there. tempted to throw out the letters from the ex-friend but i might regret it
i'm calling this room clean
@forestine holy crap that is super clean and looks amazing! you did it!!!
@sodamnqueer thanks!
