here in the main hall, they have on royalty-free techno music. the music is being played on a mac (non-free software), in the brave browser (free-ish software). in the dock there are several icons for microsoft and other non-free software.
i am just pointing this out because, you know, it's FOSDEM, the free and open source developers' european meeting.
last year the computer they used for this was running KDE 🙃
they have swapped out for another machine running KDE (free software). it is showing a slideshow authored in Google Slides (non-free software), and the browser appeared to be Firefox (free software).

Robin@esoterra Do you want to debate on the term democracy? I despise a capitalist system where the majority gets to reign over the minority, which is commonly known as democracy. I strive for a system where the people take what they need and give what they can.

@nyovaya @esoterra That’s why liberal democracy is important and illiberal democracy is disastrous, so that the minority can have rights that protect them.
Democracy is on the opposite side from capitalism. Capitalism involves violation of inalienable rights to workplace democracy.
Also, there is proportional representation where minorities are at least represented in delegates.
@nyovaya I don't care to debate the definitions of terms or to defend the thinly veiled oligarchy that that we call "democracy". I just think we need to be clear that our goals are truly democratic participatory systems, and that every time we give people power over us the incentives that emerge always lead to oppression and cruelty, even if they call themselves socialists.
