When I learned about Alex Pretti and that he was a member of the cycling community and a fellow bikepacker, I felt grief at the loss of a kindred spirit, and considered trying to organize a bike ride in his honor. Of course others in the Minneapolis cycling community had the same idea, so I'll be heading downtown to join in on a ride on Saturday organized by Angry Catfish Bicycle. It's heartening to see how far this idea has spread from here already.

Yeah, the organized rides are only in the western world, but I'd say that spreading to three different continents makes it worldwide in that sense of the word, which is way more than I expected. Receiving sympathy and solidarity instead of scorn from anyone outside the U.S. is a pleasant surprise. It's good to know that so many people understand that most of the US is opposed to the current facist regime and its awful regressive policies, blatant lies, and oppression.
