after so much talk of AI companies wanting to build data centres in Australia supposedly because of our renewable energy capabilities, they finally said the quiet bit out loud
@camwilson bring on a carbon tax

@camwilson
How did we get from what we have now, to the implicit
"data centres" "now central to" "emergency services", etc.

The "rapid expansion of data centres" is central to introduction of more LLMs. The fact that we need some data centres for the rest of our infrastructure doesn't make our infrastructure fail from not rapidly expanding them.

@camwilson looks more and more like the #oligarchs and the #FossilFuelMafia are trying to artificially increase demand so they can keep burning up this planet as it becomes clear that we can phase out #OilAndGas...
At least in democracies voters can vote for the interest of the many over the few #Billionaires.
Let's hope voters across the globe pay attention what happened in the US once a #Billionaires regime was elected.
... and we still haven't seen 99% of the #EpsteinFiles, #BloodyLiars
@camwilson The right wing here is very big on selling both of those things, too, and are always hunting for new excuses to plead for coal and gas. For years it was smelting, but industry is increasingly finding it more cost effective to use renewables, so the LNP at all levels need a new set of patsies to squeeze and it's hard to find a bigger set of cashed up patsies than the AI crowd.
@camwilson
Next thing you know they’ll be asking govt to subsidise them (data centres to run bloated ‘AI’ & crappy coding). Whatever happened to lean and mean? 🤔
@camwilson that's why nuclear is the way to go. You can't let some clouds dictate whether lights are on or off.
